What Crypto Can You Deposit on Polymarket?
Polymarket's primary settlement asset is USDC on the Polygon network. Direct deposits of ETH, BTC, and alternative cryptocurrencies are not supported. That said, UK-based traders holding alternative digital assets can readily convert to USDC through either a decentralised or traditional exchange prior to funding their account.
How to Convert ETH to USDC for Polymarket
- Via a CEX (easiest): Exchange ETH for USDC on platforms such as Coinbase or Kraken, followed by withdrawing USDC directly to the Polygon chain
- Via Uniswap on Polygon: Use the Polygon bridge to move ETH onto Polygon, then execute a swap to USDC through Uniswap's liquidity pools
- Via 1inch: Leverages price discovery across numerous Polygon-based decentralised exchanges to secure optimal swap execution
USDC Networks: Polygon vs Ethereum
Polymarket accepts Polygon USDC exclusively (not wrapped or bridged variants). Ensure your USDC transfer targets the Polygon network specifically, not the Ethereum mainnet. Transferring mainnet-issued USDC to a Polygon-compatible address will permanently forfeit those funds.
- ✅ Polygon USDC (MATIC network) → use this
- ⚠️ Ethereum USDC (ERC-20) → requires bridging before use on Polymarket
Can You Deposit BTC on Polymarket?
This is not an option at present. You must first liquidate BTC into USDC through a UK-regulated exchange, then move the resulting USDC to Polygon. Completion typically occurs within 30 minutes following successful exchange account verification.
Minimum Crypto Deposit
Polymarket enforces no formal deposit floor. From a practical standpoint, approximately $5 in USDC represents a reasonable entry point, allowing sufficient capital for trading after accounting for transaction fees.
